    29th Illinois State Square and Round Dance Convention in 2012 (July 27-29, 2012) (Hosted by MCASD)
    The convention activities will be held in the Oak Brook Hills Marriott Resort - Oak Brook, IL, 3500 Midwest Rd, Oak Brook, IL 60523.

Room Reservations Update:  The blocks of rooms reserved for the 2012 Convention have been filled for Friday night and Saturday night.  You may be able to obtain the same rate or a slightly higher rate using one of the following approaches:
  • There may be cancellations, so try again / call back later.
  • Try a different rate option (AAA/CAA, Senior Discount, etc., though the minimum is now $169/night with Senior Discount, lower rates of $94, $109, $119, etc.)
  • Other local hotels may have a similar rate available.
  • If you're arriving earlier or staying additional days, you may still be able to reserve those nights at the original group rate for the portion of your stay covering the dates 7/23/12-7/27/12 (4 nights before) and 7/29/12-8/1/12 (3 nights after), but not 7/27/12-7/29/12 (2 nights during the convention).
Room Reservations (Original information - see "Room Reservations Update" above):  You may now register for your hotel room using the Oak Brook Hills Marriott Resort website.
The above link will automatically setup the group code on the hotel's website so you receive the group rate for the room reservation.  If you prefer, you may make a reservation by calling the hotel reservation number (630) 850-5555 and asking for the "IL State Square & Round Dance Convention" or the "SQU" Room Block.  While the pre-convention 1st Annual Golf Tournament for Square Dancers is on Thursday, July 26, 2012 and the convention only runs from Friday, July 27, 2012 through Sunday, July 29, 2012, the Special Rates for the hotel room reservations are valid for stays of any length during the convention activities and from three days before to three days after the convention activities (Monday, July 23, 2012 to Wednesday, August 01, 2012.)  You may reserve your room now.

The featured caller for the 2012 Illinois State Square and Round Dance Convention will be Jerry Story from Fairfield, IA / Mission, TX / Waynesville, NC / Maggie Valley, NC.  So, who is Jerry Story?  Jerry is a co-owner and staff caller of the recording label Royal Records.  If you've never met Jerry or heard him call, here are just a few of the many videos of Jerry Story available on YouTube:

    DeKalb is Heaven in 2007 (July 27-29, 2007)
    The convention activities will be held in the Holmes Student Center at Northern Illinois University.  [NIU map of the location]  The convention will make use of many of the available facilities such as the Carl Sandburg Auditorium, Pheasant Room, and the Huskies Den.  Select Holmes Student Center Food Service facilities will be available for meals and snacks with a variety of food types available and there are also other restaurants on or near the campus.

Travel note:  When coming from the east on I-88, take the N. Peace Rd. exit (mile 94) north to Rt. 38/Lincoln Hwy. and head northwest to NIU. This avoids an additional 30¢ (15¢ I-Pass users) toll at Annie Glidden Road and another 80¢ (40¢ I-Pass users) added to the toll if you accidentally miss Annie Glidden Road.
